Bike

The Lavaman Keauhou Bike Course is a challenging 40K bike run, which starts out with a 1.5 mile climb. Things calm down after that when you proceed on a portion of the Ironman bike course, finishing on Alii Drive through Kailua Kona town to the bike to run transition at Keauhou Beach Resort.

Transition will be in the cul-de-sac at the bottom of Kamehameha III Road:Travel makua(mountain) on Kamehameha III (this a steep climb)through the intersection with Alii Drive:
Left on Kuakini: out Kuakini to Queen Kaahumanu and Queen Kaahumanu out to OTEC:
Turn around at OTEC heading back south to Kona:
Right on Kaiwi St. into the Industrial Area|
Left on Kuakini: then Right on Palani to Alii Drive.
Finish through town, down Alii Drive to Keauhou Resort

    • A shirt or tri suit must be worn on bike and run!
    • Bike frame number and helmet number must be used.
    • There is no riding in transition area.
    • When exiting transition - There will be a bike mount/dismount line
    • NO AUDIO DEVICES ALLOWED (IPODS, MP3 PLAYERS, HEADPHONES)
    • Crossing white lane into highway will result in DQ
    • Bike to transition to dismount bike on line.
    • Bike must be racked
    • Please Do Not Ride Past Guard Shack while training (see map). This is private property.
    • nHelmet must be strapped
    • Relay exchange at Bike
    • Roads are not closed to traffic
    • Stay in the Bike Lane on  Kamehameha III Road: and the Queen Kaahumanu
    • On Q Kaahumanu Highway – must ride to the far right as safely possible
    • No Passing at the bike turn around
    • No Passing Kawi to Palani Rd
    • Alii Dr Ride in the Road not the Bike Lane
    • Always be Alert at the Intersections the roads are open to Traffic
    • Northbound Traffic will  closed From Kam III to Lako Street
    • Alii Drive – Southbound  Traffic lane will be closed
    • Pass on Left Crossing white lane into highway will result in DQ
    • USAT rules in effect.
