Aloha Lavaman Competitors,
We have been looking into all of our options for the Lavaman after being forced to cancel the 2020 Race due to the Corona Virus. We have explored the possibility of hosting the event later in the year, but due to the uncertainty of the current crisis, this does not appear to be a possibility, without possibly finding ourselves in the same situation a few months down the line..As much as we would like to be able to offer refunds, we cannot do this and maintain our ability to pay our business partners for the year-round work that goes into planning and producing a race the size of Lavaman.
We have carefully examined our finances and factored in the expenses that cannot be recaptured or put towards the 2021 Race.
Given this we will be able to offer the following:
80% ROLL-OVER for either the 2021 Lavaman scheduled for March 28, 2021, or the 2022 Lavaman tentatively scheduled for April 3, 2022.
FEES FOR EXTRA BANQUET TICKETS: If you purchased extra banquet tickets, this amount will be refunded to you or rolled over with your entry if you choose a roll-over
USA TRIATHLON ONE-DAY FEES: USA Triathlon has committed to rolling these over to either a future Lavaman race or any other future triathlon sanctioned by USAT. The process for this has yet to be determined.
These are funds that are held by and under the control of USAT and not the Race
DONATION OF ENTRY FEES: Those athletes that do not seek to roll-over their slot, 80% of their entry fee will be put into a fund which will be donated to one of the non-profits supported by Lavaman. Athletes will be able to choose from a list of non-profits.
Final details of how the Roll-Overs will be processed are still being worked on and Athletes will be notified in the near future of these details.
We sincerely hope you are all staying safe and well and look forward to Lavaman 2021 when we can hopefully all celebrate together the passing of this unprecedented ordeal.
Mahalo Nui Loa for your understanding & patience,
